A day at EuropaPark Rust during a pandemic

The first thing we did, when me and Christine decided that we wanted to head to EuropaPark, was to see how many people they would actually let in. We couldn’t find an official number however we found an interview where they mentioned the usual number and how many they were allowed to let in and they would let in less than 30.000 per day. Which is actually less than half their usual capacity. We then ordered our tickets. You have to pick an arrival time and a leaving time. (We guessed it’s to make sure not too many people arrive at the same time) We also received a little Video in the email with our ticket confirmation about rules.

First of all, you have to wear your mask while entering the park. You may take it off while walking through the park, only if you can keep distance from others. You have to wear the mask as soon as you get in line for a ride and keep them on, on the rides. (Was a new way of experiencing a rollercoaster having on a mask that almost blinded me hanging over my eyes). In line, there are yellow stripes on the floor that tell you to keep space and how much. Other than that, they ask you to keep your distance, but there isn’t much more to it. They also have staff going round the park with disinfectant spray for our use, which I thought to be very useful.

We drove on a Saturday morning and arrived around 10 in the morning at the park. They also left a little more space for each car, which I enjoyed simply for the fact that you didn’t have issues getting out the car. They had already staff members ready on the walk to the entrance to tell people to put on the masks. By the entrance, they only needed to scan your ticket (worked with our phones, no need to print). Entering the park, you could find the staff members with disinfectant spray spread throughout the park. We first set off to my personal favourite ‘Silverstar’. Although there were lines clearly marked on the floor, not everyone followed the rules of a max. of 3 people per line. We did stick to the lines and when those behind us came to close, we reminded them to keep the space.

‘Silverstar’ is 73 meters high and gains speed up to 130km/h. The whole ride lasts 3 minutes, which makes even better! The ride itself was great as usual. Great adrenaline rush and felt freeing to be so high up. The rush is what I love most about rollercoasters. Shortly after the ride I decided to treat myself with an Iced Frappuccino while we walked to ‘Greece’. If you have never been to EuropaPark, it is divided by different European countries such as Germany, France, England, Iceland and many more. Once arrived in Greece, we let out our influencer and decided to have a little photoshoot, making it look like we were on a super nice holiday (don’t get me wrong I’d much rather be in actual Mykonos or Athens). Here are some snapshots from Greece.

After taking our pictures, we made our way to Russia and decided to get in line for EuroMir, which is themed around the spaceships. The rollercoaster has seats that turn. Two look forward and two backward and they turn during the ride. I personally prefer starting facing the back cause it means you ride most of the drops backwards which is much more exciting. After this we made our way through Scandinavia to Iceland to go to another favourite ride of mine, which is ‘Blue Fire’.

‘Blue Fire’ is a rollercoaster that goes from 0 to 100km/h in 2,5 seconds! The whole ride lasts around 2 minutes and 20 seconds and has 4 loopings or screws and has highest points of 38 meters, which make this ride so thrilling!

In the line to get on the ride, you have huge screens explaining how Nord Stream 2 is creating energy and also takes away the boredom of waiting in line. This has to be one of my favourites rides, simply cause as soon as it starts you are being shot into the highest part of the ride, straight into a dive into a looping, which kicks off this ride in the best way possible. Little hint is to keep your head against the seat at the start. This ride was Christine’s favourite of the day.

Now was time for a quick journey to the loo and then lunch. A lot of food places were closed and being prepared as Christine is, she printed herself a list out with all the vegan possibilities. She always wanted to try a vegan HotDog so it was perfect we found ourselves next to Moby Dick, which served the only vegan HotDogs in the whole park. To say the least it was warm and we were happy to have found a little wall in the shade to have our lunch. I personally enjoyed my HotDog and if I understood correctly Christine found hers pretty alright!

After our little lunch break it was time for ‘Wodan, Timburcoaster’, yet another great speed wodden rollercoaster. It reaches 40 meters of height and gains a maximum speed of 100km/h with much ‘air-time’ aka you feel like flying. There is specifally one big drop that has a gradient of 52°. In line while you wait you get to experience some Norse (Viking) mythology and they have stones with questions on them, so waiting is less boring.

Things I have learnt are that Odin’s horse is called Sleipnir and that Odin had to sacrifice an eye to be able to drink from the waters of cosmic knowledge. Things I knew was that Thor’s hammer is called Mjölnir, cause let’s be honest I’d be a bad Marvel fan if I didn’t.

May I also add I love Greek and Norse mythology and absolutely adore the decorum for the waiting line and just the way it looks. I like the fact that they put a lot of effort into the themes, especially comparing to Disney, they really try and keep it interesting. They can’t put actual film figures etc in their decor, however compared to other parks, they have everything very new and really theme like designed.

Having the burning sun constantly on our heads, we made a little journey through other countries to try and find a hat for Christine, which brought us to Spain. Here is usually the main part for the big show of Roman stage fighting, which unfortunately is still closed. We did find a hat and we took a cute selfie with Flamenco dancers, which walked around with the disinfectant spray.

It being ridiculously hot, we thought it was time to head to Greece to Poseidon to cool down a bit. This ride is a small rollercoaster mix with a water ride. The ride isn’t super thrilling, however we managed to get a sheer amount of wet and therefore cool down a lot.

Then we walked through Switzerland, which I personally think is so cute! I also usually tend to have a little Raclette there, but when we were there, the food part was closed off. We did decide to have a little break in the shade and used the ice cold fountain to cool us down. (It is no drinking water, but super refreshing.)

Me knowing there is a Minimoys ride, I knew we had to go through the fairy tale forest to get there, however Christine was quick to say that it her being her first time, she would never have gone that way and she would have never thought to find that ride behind it all. This is the only movie related ride in the whole park and although it isn’t super thrilling, I like it as it is a different kind of ride, hanging around on the bottom rather then being on top of the rails, plus it is based on the story of Arthur and the Minimoys (Arthur and the Invisibles). Getting closer to the end of the day, we went back to France as we wanted to go on the rollercoaster in the bubble.

This rollercoaster used to be themed as journey to the moon, which however has now been used for EuroMir. Only then I realised that the music was only used at EuroMir. (believe me the music is one you won’t forget)

So Eurosat is also not called ‘Eurosat’ anymore but ‘Can-Can Coaster’. It has completly changed theme to be actually be completly French themed with all the decorations, music and look being french. During the rollercoaster you can hear the ‘can-Can song play as part of the ride, the ride itself is still the same. Personally this is a relaxing ride and not as thrill-like as ‘Silverstar’, ‘Wodan’ or ‘Blue Fire’.

Even though we haven’t done many water rides, they also seemed to be more busy due to it being very hot. Now, closer to the end of the day, we decided to head back to ‘Blue Fire’, because we really wanted to do it a second time and after that I went by myself a second time on ‘Silverstar’ as this has become a kind of tradition that ‘Silverstar’ is the first and last ride of the day.

To finish off the day, we got a Maccies on our way home. In general, we waited a maximum of 30-35 minutes for the rides and tried to keep distance as much as possible. We also tried to get selfies in as many countries as possible so here they are:

Have a nice trip and Call me Chrissi xxx
